CONTRIBUTES TO THE OVERALL EFFECTIVENESS OF THE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES BY FACILITATING AND COORDINATING EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS TO ENHANCE THE EDUCATION OF HEALTHCARE PERSONNEL. * Demonstrates competence in the teaching/learning process, adult education, and needs of assigned area(s). * Plans appropriate educational activities in collaboration with nurse educators. * Demonstrates educational principles in the teaching setting * Presents/coordinates effective and informative educational activities. * Effectively evaluates educational programs. PROVIDES LEADERSHIP AND DIRECTION AND ACTS AS CLINICAL RESOURCE TO PEERS AND MEMBERS OF THE HEALTHCARE TEAM. *Demonstrates a clear understanding of rules and regulations that govern the licensing/certification/accreditation of assigned area. DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES**Endocrinology Provides a broad and varying range of administrative support to contribute to timely and efficient operation of diabetes education within Endocrinology and across the organization. Oversees tasks needed to conduct and market education programs/symposiums that meet national standards for accreditation for both patients and health professionals. Responsible for budget assistance and administrative assistance to the Division Director, Endocrinology and supervision of education support staff. COORDINATES AND OVERSEES PREPARATION AND SUBMISSION OF EDUCATION PROGRAMS TO MEET NATIONAL STANDARDS OF ACCREDITATION FOR PATIENTS, NURSES, DIETICIANS, PHYSICIANS AND PHARMACISTS. * Responsible for collection and entry of data, documentation of continuing education of professional staff, curriculum updates, and preparation of program review and annual plan. SUPERVISES EDUCATION SUPPORT STAFF. * Supervises, trains, and promotes development of non-exempt education staff and provides work direction to volunteers as needed. OVERSEES ALL ADMINISTRATIVE DETAILS RELATED TO EDUCATION PROGRAMS WITH PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY FOR PATIENT PROGRAMS. * Maintains schedule of speakers for all programs. * Oversees marketing, registration, program preparation, evaluation and data entry. * Serves as primary contact for patient-in depth program which includes but is not limited to phone inquiries, registration, rotation of patients during team interviews, catering, audio visual needs, room reservations, and slide development. PROVIDES ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANCE TO THE DIVISION DIRECTOR, CLINIC MANAGER AND MEDICAL DIRECTOR, DIABETES EDUCATION. * Anticipates and prepares materials needed by Director, Diabetes Education for conferences, correspondence, appointments, meetings, telephone calls, etc. * Independently composes correspondence and reports. Arranges meetings, conferences, and appointments for Director, Diabetes Education and may attend meetings and record proceedings. * Coordinates administrative support to education staff. * Assists in marketing diabetes education programs. * Serves as a resource for education programs to Scott & White patients. ASSISTS IN THE PREPARATION AND ONGOING MONITORING OF OPERATING BUDGETS IN COOPERATION WITH THE CLINIC MANAGER AND DIVISION CHIEF. * Maintains central file of Endocrinology education budgets. In cooperation with Manager, assures budgets are completed accurately and in a timely manner. PERFORMS OTHER POSITION APPROPRIATE DUTIES AS REQUIRED IN A COMPETENT, PROFESSIONAL AND COURTEOUS MANNER.
